SERP rankings are dead! Good riddance!
If you’ve ever talked with me about SEO (which means you’ve talked with me about anything at all), you know that one of my pet-peeves is people who think it’s all about the rankings. That short-sighted approach to SEO is an unproductive penis-game.
Now that Google has attached location to every search query- and you can’t turn it off- I am officially declaring search rankings dead. Yippie! Now there is no such thing at all about a consistently measurable search rankings report- it all transparently depends on what location Google things you are searching from.
At the same time, this is no stupid “SEO is dead” statement. On the contrary- incompetent SEOs who only focus on rankings are dead. Now is the rise of legitimate SEOs who understand visits from natural search and corresponding conversions are the real measure of SEO success. Or, more specifically, conversions from non-branded organic search visits.
